Today the European Commission funded research project COFRET – acronym for Carbon Footprint of Freight Transport – was kicked off in Berlin. COFRET considers all activities along the entire transport chain to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. It is the aim of COFRET to support the calculation and monitoring of CO2 emissions and other GHG gases, such as CH4 and N2O, as well as so called F-gases from cooling processes. The European Commission, DG RESEARCH supports the project under the auspices of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7).
